The signature song of Norwegian indie rock band KaRL BaRX tells the story of the German boy Karl, and what happens when a kid is utterly ignored at home. The band has adopted Karl, and employed him as our maskot. We hope this kan help him rekover from his first traumatik visit to skool. If there's hope for Karl, there's hope for anyone.
As for the video, we arranged a workshop/party with fourteen volunteering friends, four kameras, some light equipment and some beer, and spent five awesome hours together at Saturday 5th of July 2008. We fokused on katching the energy of the song, so never mind mikrophones without kables, kurtains falling down or persons switching outfits and instruments.
I was right to expekt that some nice patterns of kooperation would emerge throughout the night, and I was right to worry that axxidents, adrenalin and beer would make it diffikult to give the few direktions I aktually had planned to give our helpers.
We would never have made it without Frode, who was a standby TV station kameraman that night, waiting for some downtown aktion to happen. Lucky for us, it didn't, so Frode stayed with us with his expensive kamera long after the other three kameras had run out of battery power. He also borrowed a light with a decent amount of lux.
After the shoot I have spent long hours choosing scenes and editing the whole thing in Vegas Video 3. I guess I hadn't realized how long working with the footage would take... I also threw in some naivistik flash animation.
I hope you enjoy the video. Please visit www.karlbarx.com for more information about the band, and about Karl.
