Sandy Beach on the east side of Oahu holds the title for the most neck injuries then any beach in Hawaii. The shore break is really strong resulting in a lot of injuries. If you aren't a strong swimmer or don't have fins, then it's not recommended to be out in the water when the swell is strong.

  • Hey Peter! Awesome videos man, you are doing (insofar as traveling) what I dream to do some day once I get some money. Quick question, what camera were you using in this particular video? Just interested in one that can go into the water like yours. Thanks, and keep traveling man!

  • @nickknows Thank you! The camera in this particular video is a FLIP camera. I purchased an underwater housing piece for it.

  • do u live there know pete?

  • @savirjack no, i'm back in Los Angeles. Was there just for the holidays.

  • I automatically "Like" your videos before I even watch it because I know it will take me somewhere I haven't been.

  • @soundlyawake Thanks man! I appreciate it. Now i know where at least 1 out of 25 "likes" come from :)

  • I had a seizure watching the vid, good job with the steady hand cuz!

  • Any ideas what kind of housing piece you're using?

  • Gotta love that Sandy Beach shoreline break. It's brutal if you get caught in it and you're not expecting it. Great beach!

  • Gotta surf their when its storming...wave at that moment tend to be a lot more glassier and, the waves has more shape to get barreled. Sand beach on stormy days 10ft-15ft on a good day then, you head more easterly to Makapuu sea life park, the waves their are more brutal meaning...they peak up more vertical than Sandy beach. Mahalo :D

  • Looks like fun! Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get to visit there one day. ; )

  • you make me long for summer, but its only january
