The York Astronomical Society (www.yorkastro.org.uk) organised a Crescent Moon (Hilal) Observation from Sutton Bank (Thirsk, 1000 ft above sea level) on Friday 27 March 2009. The BBC Radio York was interested to provide coverage of this astronomical event as it was a rear occurance. The BBC interviewer was Jules Bellerby and speaking on behalf of York Astronomical Society (and York Mosque) was Qamar Uddin. The Part 2 of the video also shows some members trying to observer and take photos of the moon (in the dark!). Martin Dobson (York Astronomical Society) kindly supplied the voice recording of the radio interview and the crescent photos were supplied by Philip Jennings (and Martin Whillock, the next day).
