Ray Moore - O' My Father Had A Rabbit - for BBC Children in Need. Lyrics by the late Shag Connors, Produced by Dennis O'Keefe.

I'm still experimenting with upload settings on you tube. I'd expect this uncompressed, broadcast quality upload to sound OK.

Let's see what happens'...?? By the way, this PPM is BBC standard spec.(S+5dB).

  • lol my mum and dad bought this on 7 inch and they've still got it! They've also still got Joggin on the bog eyed jog by Ray moore...I used to love listening to these when I was a kid.

  • Thanks for your comment. It's coming up 20 years since Ray died (shortly after his 47th birthday). It almost seems like yesterday.

    Tempus Fugit

  • I'm pleased you've found it here. It was released in 1986 (PLAY 213) for the benefit BBC Children In Need.

Ray was among the most professional of broadcasters' but was never afraid to send himself up, especially if it could raise a few 'bob' for a good cause.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Head the ball love it!!!

  • @Ampex196 I'm sure I could write a book on Ray Moore and would probably call it "Ray Moore the greatest friend I never had" - Thanks Paul Bowden

  • Produced by Dennis O'keefe - or as Ray called him "Dentures no teeth!!"

  • Thank you for this posting - the end of the song with Ray's beautiful laugh brings tears to my eyes - thanks again Paul Bowden (Isle of Man) ex-loiner

  • So many memories hearing this song, reminds me also of the windsock at Gatport airwick and Pat and Mick with the stop go boards. Happy days.

  • Ray's my uncle, many, many years since I'd heard this! Love it!

  • me and my auntie love this song best in a while

  • One of the joys of YouTube is finding gems like this... I haven't heard this ditty in years, but I've never forgotten the line "She was running faster than a double-decker bus". Simple, gentle humour - proving you don't always have to be crude or ironic to raise a chuckle.

  • my friends thought I was crazy one night singing this!! I glad I proved to them that there was a called my father had a rabbit lol!!! I heard it only once as a child lmao!!

  • As a trucker i listened to Ray for years he was a truly unique presenter, when he was going off for a break his last records were always Ray Coniffs "For all we know "& Mike Leanders "Here there & everywhere". Brilliant stuff!
