Stille Nacht sung in German, French and English with guitar accompaniment.

LYRICS:
(Deutsch)
Stille nacht, heilige Nacht!
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute, heilige Paar.
Holder Knab' im lockigen Haar,
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!

(Français)
Ô nuit de paix! Sainte nuit!
Dans le ciel l′astre luit;
Dans les champs tout repose en paix.
Mais soudain dans l′air pur et frais,
Le brillant choeur des anges
Aux bergers apparaît.

(English)
Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin Mother and Child;
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

  • Thank you sebastianguitars for responding with your beautiful, sensitively played arrangement! Love your bass notes especially. Merry Christmas! :D

  • Thank you so much for sharing about your upcoming 'gig' lagnew86! Sounds like lots of fun. Hope things go well. My home town has a large Italian population. I should have done a verse in Italian as well. I'd probably get my husband to coach me on the Spanish, since that language is more difficult for me! The more the merrier, eh? Merry Christmas to y'all in Texas from us here in snowy Canada! Brrr :D

  • Thanks for your comment, lagnew86! Sorry about lack of visibility, regarding the playing. That can be especially frustrating if you want to see the chords on the left hand, eh? Will keep that in mind in future. :D Appreciate your kind comments regarding the singing. Always wanted to sing this simply, with guitar, in at least 3 languages, the German (original) plus both of my country's (Canada) official languages. When singers understand & integrate the meaning, the rest comes naturally.

  • Thank you for commenting. You are welcome. Glad you liked it. :D

  • danke dir :D

  • A few ladies from my church are performing this on Saturday at our Ladies' Christmas tea. I iwill sing the German, my daughter the French, another friend will sing the third verse in Spanish (we live in Texas), and then we will join together in English. I'm strumming chords, as I'm not great at finger picking yet. Looking forward to it though. :)

  • Very nice guitar playing! Wish I could see your playing. Beautiful singing as well. :)

  • This is very good, thank you for posting this.
