I had the opportunity to interview Dean Kamen, inventor and innovator extraordinaire, at the incentive2innovate conference at the United Nations in New York City. His inventing exploits include the Segway, the insulin pump, and a stair-climbing wheelchair. Come see our conversation about the difference between invention and innovation, the importance of making science interesting to kids, and the challenge of overcoming cultural norms to transform an invention into an innovation.

  • It is a mono microphone that I have - haven't figured out how to get stereo pickup with the small Canon HD video camera have. Always open to suggestions of what to buy to get stereo audio pickup. :-)

  • Nice video. Sad that audio is on only left (typical problem with mono). Dean Kamen is so clever man and down to earth (if that's the right word). I like him.

  • He reminds me of Joe Pesci
