Today, September 10, is the National Day of Belize, observing Saint George's Cay Day. Adjacent to the Caribbean Sea between Guatemala and Mexico in Central America, Belize has one of the largest barrier reefs in the world. The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site. It is home to threatened species, such as the herbivorous manatee. Other amazing wildlife in the country includes the national animal of Belize, the herbivorous Baird's tapir. We wish the residents of picturesque Belize a memorable Saint George's Cay Day.
