Have to agree, the chaos caused by it disqualifies ADHD as a proper "gift" in my opinion. However, that chaos can be controlled with practice and Dr. Barkley is way, way too negative about it!

Since the personality of an individual with ADHD is by definition different from the general population, is it really so off-the-mark to expect there to be at least some sort of correlation between ADHD symptoms and other associated behaviours such as greater spontaneity, perceptiveness, sociability, quick-wittedness, or enthusiasm? After all, these are all behaviours associated with hyperactivity and impulsivity (the symptoms of ADHD).

He says it's a "disorder", which means the brain is "imbalanced" in a certain way, which means people with ADHD are stronger in other parts of the brains whereas they're weak on the frontal lobe...

I think he's saying that its not cause an effect. not necessarily that it is negative. adhd is an enhancer, not the causation of such things such as creativity. I think thats what he's saying.

ADD and ADHD is not a disability and its not bad. Yes you get detracted which leads to more and more things you ask more question you wonder why, you start reliesing whats actually happening in this world your 100% different then everyone else for our physical self. I think so differently then what i could think many people i know shouldn't think about. These drugs i take to ''control'' it is a lock its not the real me. i relies that this thing i have is me it makes me and im glad i have it.

ADHD MAKES YOUR BRAIN WORK FASTE, IT MAKES YOU MORE CREATIVE, AND IT MAKES YOU SEE THE WORLD IN DIFFERENT WAYS. So say what you will but to me ADHD is a gift. Even if it makes school a tiny bit harder. A challenge is good for you.

I have ADHD, I don't see much of a difference, and every friend I've ever had never knew I had it until I told them. Lol.
