For a BHR in Belgium, you must go to dr Kloeck in Gent.

I love how you laugh throughout all of this. You're a great example to us! I am 34 and my orthopedic says I will need a hip replacement. It's up to me when. I'm seeing how long I can stand the pain. I only have one bad hip-the right hip due to legg perthes in that hip when I was a child.

I been doing lots of walking, the doctor said that is good for the hip. My right Hip is fine, it was my left hip that was resurfaced. I been Massage around where the incision is and now its getting a burning feeling but I guess thats because the blood is just getting back to the surface in that area. i wish i could go back to work but because its so difficult to find work I have been looking for something I can do without screwing up my hip again.
Still from Hips Resurfaced: Thanks for all your comments. I hope you'll keep posting - the heardest thing when I was waiting for my hip surgery, was finding 'real-life' feedback from people whi had it done. Life IS beautiful!

Continued: a real heathly diet, with plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, good lean protein, plus multi-vitamin and calcium (bones need to remain strong). Well, just a regular healthy lifestyle.
I found out my hips get weak quickly unless I do the strength exercises regularly - so I do them! And I am still getting a bit stronger, even two years post-op, where I can do full squats more easily. I don't expect to have 'perfect' hips, just functional ones, so I can have fun!

This is an update from me, Catherine, alias 'Hips Resurfaced. My hips are great, functional and I am having a lot of fun using them *wisely* in what I want.
Wisely use my hips means: no high impact sports which would wear them out; regular strengthening exercises in a gym or at home to maintain strength, stability & muscle balance, walking and hiking, lots of Salsa dancing(which I have learned this past year - fun!) ; a really healthy diet, with lots of fruits (continued below)

I am 27 years old and had a Hip resurfacing done on June 16, 2009. I spent 2 1/2 days in the hospital. when they got me out of bed, I had lots of pain getting out, 24 staples. The reason I had it done because I had very very bad arthritis where I couldn't walk after work, after daily workouts. I am feeling so much better now, feeling more my age. it is now January 2010 and I have my ups and downs, the cold hurts, but not like before.

Hi! Good that you had it done and feel so much better. My tip to you? Keep your hips strong with hip strength exercises and you'll feel better - without pain! Cath

Walking is good, so that's great. But I also discovered through my own hip experience that you ned more than just walking to keep your hip strong and hopefully pain-free: you need to do regularly hip strength & stability exercises. Get professional guidance from a physio or medical exercise specialist so you learn properly what works and what to do. Good luck!
