Donald Campbell Killed in Water Speed Record Attempt. Campbell was a British speed record breaker who is the only person to have set both world water and land speed records in the same year (1964). On 4th January 1967, Campbell was killed whilst attempting to set another water speed record in his 'Bluebird K7'. He had already set seven water speed records between 1955 and 1964 with speed increases from 216mph to 276.33mph. The accident happened on Coniston Water, Lancashire, England. The Bluebird surpassed 320mph but as she did so she gradually lifted from the water before somersaulting out of control. Campbell was killed instantly.

  • @Jimmylqd its clearly some sort of conspiracy

  • you can see from the left sponson rooster tail that i fact the boat is wiggling about and at each wiggle the engine torque wil be adding to the instability and each wiggle will allow air to get under and lift it and each lift got higher until it flipped over.

  • o my god!

  • if your gonna go that's how you go, calm and collected a true British hero

  • Thanks for all the useless info about somebody's blood type, a hand injury and oh yeah, the president of some hometown bank.... my life is now much fuller.........

  • a friend of my Fathers here in he States, was in a boat crash around the same time period. But they were racing prop speed boats and he lost control of his and flipped it and then was ran over by another racer and lost part of a hand and other injuries. He also is AB neg blood type and said thats all he remembered right after was saying his blood type over and over so they could get him blood. He survived, was the Pres of a bank in my hometown

  • A Steve Irwin moment.

  • Great footage! but I wonder why the clip where he crashes is noticeably worse in quality than the other clips...

  • that thing is sick
