Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES) Speed Run [9:15 MINUTES]

The second U.S. installment of the Mario series, released in October 1988, was not the series's actual second game but a reworked "Doki Doki Panic". You can play as any of Mario, Luigi, Toad or the Princess, each of whom have slightly different abilities. Journey through Mario's dream with creatures that would reappear in later, non-imaginary, Mario games.

This run took me about 4 weeks to beat the record. I speedran this game for a while back in 2005 and the best time I could get back then was somewhere between 10:24-10:27. No way did I think I would be able to improve my run by over a minute. I made a lot of mistakes in this run so I might improve it sometime in the next month if I get around to it. I think my personal limit for this game would be about 9:05. I lost the most time in level 7-2 where I decided not to get hit by the birdhead. This wasted 5-6 seconds but I probably would have died at wart had I been hit there. I was aiming to get about a 9:10, but I'm satisfied with this for now. Anyways, I think after I do some more speedruns, I will see if I can get sub 9 minutes for this game.

@proxy044 because, he has the best handelling in the game, Mario has speed, toads useless, and peach just floats for 3 seconds, Luigi has speed, the jump, and the float for that 1 brief second.

I actually have a question for the one who played this, if you are able to reach him: Is there a reason why he took that warp in 4-2 that went to world 6 instead of taking the warp in world 5 that goes to world 7? (Would it have taken more time to do that? Or is my memory mistaken and there isn't a warp in world 5? XD)
