America's tea party at Southfork, TX attracted somewhere between a handful to thousands of extremists. Courtesy of my iPhone.

  • Wow, literally dozens showed up to protest the undoing of eight years of economic failure. Where were the "50,000?"

Wonder how much money they lost on this fiasco?

  • 37,000 is the final attendance tally. I understand the event ended up being 100% paid for between donations and package sales.

Now that I've actually watched the video on YouTube, it does look a lot better on the iPhone. YouTube compressed some quality out of the video and it's hard to see the hoards. Plus I was way up front and the areas towards the back aren't real clear. But, that said, it is pretty amazing quality for a phone that can shoot video straight to the internet!

  • Haven't seen a single wide angle or aerial photo to back that up, but I suppose it's possible. They did a good job of keeping "It's called the WHITE House for a reason!" signs out this time, unlike previous teabagger events.

Very good video quality, BTW. Makes me wish my side would have a PRO-recovery demonstration.

  • "GodLovesSarahPalin?" Then why does she need that witch doctor Pastor Muthee to drive out all those evil "python spirits?"

Fat lot of good either god or Muthee did for The Quitter. All she can do now is run to the courthouse with a bunch of trial lawyers in tow whining about being criticized. I thought wingers were against frivolous lawsuits! Guess it just depends, huh? Gimme a break!

  • Sorry you feel that way. If you organize an event that costs tens of thousands of dollars to put on and comfortably accommodates 37,000 people with free general admission, I hope you can get it all paid for by donations alone, with no tangible sales of any kind. More power to you.

  • VIP seating packages were available to everyone for purchase, it had nothing to do with "who you know". The event you see in the video DID cost money to put on. Staging, venue, speakers, entertainers, etc etc. There were no corporate sponsors, no political party backing, the whole thing was funded via donations and purchases of packages, such as the VIP packages. These things aren't free to put on. However, the sales of these packages DID allow for free general admission to the event.
