  • Headlocks? Going into the stands? This one had EVERYTHING!

  • Eddie the "ENTERTAINER" He was something!.. First pro player I saw live 62-63 season he came out first for the warm up! He was playing for the Leafs vs. Hawks... Hawks won the game 6 to 0, Bobby Hull scored a hat trick..Awesome, remember it like yesterday!

  • Thank You for the uploads. I especially enjoy the old stuff. Is this public domain, is video available of these?

  • @altfactor HNIC came on at 8.30 pm ... usually you;d see the last few mins. of the first.

  • Even with the crappy quality and the jersey's pulled off, you tell which one's Shack by the big honking nose!

  • Those were the good old days

  • @altfactor: The Toronto play-by-play was done by Foster's son Bill through the 1960s, until he retired in the early 1980s.

  • Back then, CBC's "Hockey Night In Canada" would go on the air at 9 P.M. EST during the regular season, in-time for the start of the second period.

Only during the playoffs would HNIC come-on for the opening faceoff.

I don't think Rangers games were televised locally in New York that year. WOR-TV (later WWOR) began picking up some Saturday away games a few years later.

Was this Foster Hewitt on play-by--play or his son Bill??

  • lou fontinato?wow.his picture on life magazine after the howe fight, sold a lot of magazines.
