My son is 20 months old in this video, and while it wasn't supposed to be a lesson in healing the wounded, the Army bear he's got made a wonderful object lesson. I want to not only teach adults how to care for the wounded who have been through emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual traumas, but also children. A child who not only respects a wounded service member, but is tenderhearted and gentle with the wounded is an incredible child, and my goal is to raise a son who helps: Not a son who is left out of the loop of understandning. My son's name is "Azarel Uriah" and in Hebrew it means "God has helped" and "Yahweh (God) is my light." There is much significance, as you can see.

So why all the information? Well, my husband is a temporarily medically retired Marine (infantry) who's trying to get back into the military to become a Christian Chaplain. He was injured on his second deployment and discharged with severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and a Traumatic Brain Injury. I think this little video will be a reminder down the road that even the smallest of people can have the biggest of hearts. For a child to honor their father at such a young age is amazing to me, and I felt the need to share. Even though this is just a bear, please understand that my son is just as cuddly with his Daddy, who's been through a whole lot more. He adores him so much that when we go out in public, he looks at other fathers in stores and shouts, "Daddy!!" This is the kind of love and adoration all fathers should be privileged enough to have, but sadly... today, this is hardly the case.

Wounded warriors don't just need pills and counseling. The psychological tests and questionnaires are difficult to get through. When all is said and done, they need someone to listen, to stop trying to "figure them out," and to just enjoy the little things in life. With much prayer and patience comes great healing. They need to be treated with respect, as people, rather than as problems/objects. They need to be loved on, cherished, and shown the truth of God. We will do them a world of good when we remember to love them as Christ loves the church and gave Himself for it.

  • Gaurd that Doctor till he finishes Med school... so cute... bless you always lil one.

  • @AWOLFNAMEMARTI Thank you for your kind words. If there is a reputable medical field to enter into when he's of age, maybe he will. My husband and I both think he might just want to go into the military, though. It's a little early to tell for sure! :-D

  • @MarineWifeUnplugged well BLESS all 3 of you forever! and tell Daddy thannk you for serving for this country.

  • @AWOLFNAMEMARTI I sure will! Thank you so much. Are you a veteran? :)

no WOLF is not a Vet, but my family has also served, as far back as WW2

my father n law was a LT who flew B 52's over Germany.

and my other relatives were ground troops in Viatnam, & WW2.

then there is WW1 where my husband grandfather served in that one.

Thanks for asking & have a great week.
