KCTV5 News in Kansas City recently produced a 2-part special looking into the effects of depleted uranium on veterans and other victims. It was produced by their chief investigative reporter, Ash-har Quraishi.
It is uncommon for American mainstream news stations to cover this issue, and Quraishi has done a good job. One of his key sources is longtime DU activist, Dan Fahey, a man disliked by both the military (that claims DU is virtually harmless) and the anti-DU activists (who sometimes overstate DU's dangers according to Fahey).
This video is a good introduction to the topic of depleted uranium, and worth watching even if you're familiar with the subject already. It's complicated, and there is always more to learn it seems. Truth be told, there hasn't been a lot of independent research done on the matter of DU dust and its effects. Cancer rates in Iraq are sky high, local doctors are blaming DU, and the U.S. Military is taking the same approach the tobacco companies did for so long.
