i am so teary eyed i can hardly type... I never thought i would ever get to hear this song again.. My mother passed away not even a year ago now and this was one of her favorites. She would sing it to me and i sing it to the children in my life..

Like many other people on here, I also had the 78 of this when I was little. Our record of it was on yellow vinyl of all things, which made it easy to find in the stack! Good thing too, because we played it so much the label wore off both sides.

I have this record. I still love it so much. I played it so many times when I was a little girl that I still know all the words. "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" was on the 'A' side, which was the main piece. But my favourite was "Are My Ears On Straight'''. It was recorded in 1953. I was born in 1949.

What a talent. She would rival Shirley Temple. Is there any videos of her? Never heard enough of this wonderful voice. Hippo tune is all I know of her. Where was she when I was growing up? Don't remeber her at all. I was a kid in 53.
