@lyingbears I dunno, the Jesus Christ Superstar ensemble was pretty amazing.

I agree so much with this comment about this song being underrated. It is so heartwrenching.

@UNCgurlie8 no but it is very possible it's one of her many understudies.

@UNCgurlie8 No, it's a random citizen of Oz. Idina isn't in this number at all.

I nearly cried the first time I heard this song. Glinda trying to be happy for the people always breaks my heart. <3 Kristen will always be Glinda in my mind.

@iAnaiya, Nessa hadn't died at this point though. The cost is losing Elphie and her friendship.
-
The genius touch of 7/8 here.

@smm0530 I think it was emotional or something, "cost" is referring to Nessa's death.

Is the person singing at 0:42 actually Idina? Sounds like her
Most underrated song in the play, in my opinion. It really shows off how unhappy Glinda is with her situation, but how desperate she is to keep people happy. It also shows off the amazing, AMAZING ensemble. I swear to god, the Wicked ensemble is better than any other.

I was listening to this song with my little sister, she's never seen Wicked, and she mentioned that Glinda sounded so sad even though she was singing about being happy....I hugged her and said that was the point of the song, her putting up a front for the people of Oz
