    Americans hesitate to watch real news because we despair at the thought that we may not individually be able to seize control of events and turn them in the right direction. When you're driving the car, what you see through the windshield gets more interesting.

    If people don't watch or read real news, we won't have a democracy anymore, but if we were a democracy, people would start watching again.
