This is a clip from a Bell Labs promotional film called "Science Behind Speech." It's undated, but it looks 1960-ish to me, based on the content. This is Lawrence Kersta demonstrating what a spectrograph does.
This is my great grandfather and watching this was like seeing a ghost, I would love to see more of this film if possible. Thank you for posting this I had forgotten his voice.
@MrSize5Shoe Actually, I don't think that's his voice, that's the narrator. That is the only time your grandfather appears in the film though. If you email me I can give you the contact information for the person at the archives for Bell Labs. I'd post it here but I don't think he's want me to make it public. But you can get a nicer copy. This is a film of a film, because I couldn't edit what he gave me.
Kersta mentored several students who today still run Voice ID INC. in NJ. The FBI sent students to them for years and then started doing their own training in Voice Identification.
