Meleya Leff means "black shawl" referring to the black shawl or wrap the women wear out in public in Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries. In this dance, an unmarried woman goes out to the market and enjoys the male attention she receives (compliments on her beauty) but must fend off their advances to maintain her respect and not appear TOO available . . . a very coy, playful and amusing dance.
If anyone knows more details, please share!

Meleya leff is the Black sheet that she raps herself in...It was the way the women used cover over the dress before they go out (50 years ago) hence that Egypt used to be very conservative.
Meleya leff used to be more associated with ALEXANDRIA where I'm from.
You wouldn't see it in the big cities any more but may be deep countryside.
I hope this helps.
Iskandrani weben heboooo....Ayoooooooo :-)
