On Saturday I hated this wall in my apartment and I loved to paint. Today I now love this wall and hate painting.

FAQ:
Time: approx 8 hours, spread over two days
Materials: latex house paint and some cheap brushes. If painting a mural with house paint, paint something that doens't require blending. The paint dries too quickly for that.
Design: the original artwork by Mr. Vickers was very similiar, only he used shades of blue rather than green, and I added the snow.
What you don't see: There is two coats of paint on everything.

Art inspired by Roy Henry Vickers. He's super bad ass. Check him out.

  • i've been watching Wall Mural videos cuz i'm starting to plan my own. yours is truly the best. you don't TALK or EXPLAIN .. you simply WORK in front of no one but your dog and the camera, and by so doing you TEACH BY DEMONSTRATION. your style is so free . i can do something like that only if i first make a grid sketch on paper, then make it in PENCIL on the wall before any paint. Your finished product is fantastic. Sincere thanks for your video.

  • Thanks. It's not really enjoyable unless you wing it in some respects. If you over-plan and organize everything it becomes a chore rather than art. I did pencil the outline on the wall first. And had a lot of music and beer (and teh dogs) to keep me company. Good luck!

  • will latex paint cover my graffiti(i used spray paint)? or it will still show?

  • Hmmm, it might. If you are painting an intricate design you may want to just cover the wall in primer first. It's cheap and it covers everything very well, so you could start with a blank slate.

  • a bro i got a question me and my friend are trying to do a roller piece a big one but i do not know how much house paint i need can u tell me i really need help its guna be a whole wall about 30 or 20 feet tall

  • It totally depends on what you are painting. If its a brick wall of wood fence, it is likely to soak up a lot of paint, because these are very porous surfaces. If you are painting over wallpaper or a painted wall you will need less. I used about 1 gallon of paint (all colours combined) for a wall that is approx 8feetx15feet. Again, i would recommend covering the wall with primer first if you aren't starting with a blank white wall already.

  • Very very good work

  • nice work..

  • @reptilianism420 Don't worry, you'll make murals for your children when they are a bit more independent. I did.

  • Hmmm. I'll video my work that way and reply.

  • your video makes me miss the days when i was childless and had an abundance of time to be creative...your wall kicks ass!!

  • Amazing

  • Great house painting mural! Very nice. Like, Favored, Subed, your Friend Cal, painting contractor in Denver Colorado. Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A friend and I are going to paint ALL 4 of my bedroom walls for my birthday. We are using some of my favorite movie characters. We want all of the characters to be doing the same thing, like walking in a circle around the room? Everything I have read says to use a grid, but there are no pictures of exactly what we are looking for. Do you have any advice? I am a 1st time, wall mural(ist) so no hard stuff unless it's just painting!

PS. what paint would you recomend, like acrilic (no wall paint)?
