The Workspace browser is similar to your computer's desktop, in that it shows all of the mounted local and network volumes. Learn how to use the Pro Tools 8 Workspace to designate your hard drive as Performance, Playback or in this case a Record volume.

  • i figured out my pc has no expansion bays,no firewire, no usb 3.0. all i have are USB 2.0 ports. I have Pro Tools LE 8 running on Windows 7. I was looking to get an external hard drive to record to. but, i read on a couple forums that PT LE 8 is not compatible for USB external recording. Is this true?? i ask cuz i know u guys have much knowledge in this area.. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys..

  • @ineffect781 Hi, it's usually not recommended to record to an external hard drive as our depending on the connections bottle neck and it's probable that you'll loose information and/or crash your session. A USB 2.0 drive is great for back up your sessions though. Always leave a dedicated space on your computers memory for your sessions and use the external drive for back up. Let us know if this helps.
