In fact, it is an interesting voice, and on the little that may be heard here it seems more like Jan Peerce's voice than Mario Lanza's.

You really cannot compare the voices without providing us with a clear clip of a full length aria/canzone/song. I am a singer myself and find Lanza to be quite compelling, so taste is always subjective!

nice voice...but it's "dull" in comparison to lanza's. not the same clarity by a long shot.

An abject lesson in the case for there being only one, incomparable Mario Lanza.
Just as the steps to La Scala are littered with the bones of those who would succeed Caruso, so are the streets of Hollywood littered with the bones of those that would succeed Lanza.

There is a certain similarity in the singing,I must say
Dull? You must be joking! Remember this was a guest appearance on an edited television show...that means there was all kinds of sound mixing taking place so that the dialog comes through over the singing. As for clarity, Lanza had a nice voice, and a dramatic voice. But, Lanza's was all for effect. He was poorly trained, had no breath control, and often interrupted his phrasing where he should not have. He also exaggerated the rolling of his "Rs" which should drive any opera nut crazy!
