Farmers in the North Rift region should shift from the traditional crops associated with the area and diversify to other commercially lucrative agricultural undertakings. A company based in Eldoret that deals in chillies, herbs and vegetables says only 5 percent of its raw materials come from the area because of the mindset of the farmers there. Mace Foods exports 80 percent of its produce and though it worries about an impending drought, it is more concerned with how hard it is to get raw materials.
