31 Aug 2011 South Swell at Sandy Beach Oahu

I was on a Island drive-about looking for spot to metal hunt....came across Sandy's and shot some video (I don't metal hunt beaches, have preference for diving). This video only does some justice to the power of Sandy's.
Body or Boogie Boarding Sandy's on a day such as here, is an exercise of will and bone, muscle, tendon and a sheer abandonment of all good judgment (LOL). Over the years, Sandy's Beach has literally broken or drowned many.

Looks like the sandbar is setting up nicely. Not sure if I've seen it out that far.

@jfooj Yeah beach was steeper than usual, I think the sand gets sucked out and builds that bar (gentle surf brings it back on levels the beach). Hey, again, glad you survived China Walls!

Oh man that was my Dad!!!! The one that threw his board cuzz he couldn't duck dive. And the one that has the Blue and Red Turbo Board and the blue and yellow fins!! He goes there all the time. You could say he's a SandyBeachaholic. But the waves were steeper then usual.

@mikwid If you wanna have a fun day just being a spectator, this is the beach.....all day long there is drama! Some kids get great rides, and then sometimes you watch in horror someone who obviously shouldn't go...goes!!

Usually there are many people in the water, this day only a dozen or so.....it was big and powerful!

Absolutely gorgeous! I know I'm getting older (smarter?) when I picture myself standing on that beach wanting to go in like crazy but not wanting to get clobbered! I'll leave that for the whipper snappers! Thanks so much for letting us watch!
