  • before video: jonathan toews speaking french? i have to check this out.

after video: whoa, where'd my panties go????

  • @richd9 i guess i cant speak english with that grammer.

  • @laforce49 you sure? maybe english in the best in the world. :)

  • @laforce49 It's amusing (not in a bad way) linguistically-speaking. I grew up in a French-Canadian household but was speaking predominantly English. "Placed in check" is just one of many "loan" words and expressions that Canadian French assimilated over the past centuries (since "échec" normally means a "failure" and "check" is a borrowed interpretation).

I was just musing about my youth and how the French adopted an English word despite the fact that the sport has its foundings in Canada.

  • Aweye mon Jonathan, continue de parler Français parce que c'est la plus belle langue au monde ;)

  • @llorisification But, we most said : Tir

  • @TheWitchOvAgnesi Why you laugh about that !?

  • "mise en échec"... LOL

  • First of all , I love how he speaks fluent english & french :)

Second , I really don't understand the purpose to this video , it's so random LOL .

  • I just found out (from another YouTube video!) that Jonathan grew up in Winterpeg (sorry...I'm Canadian, too!) He's got perfect French! Good for him...
