Start-up of 1919 Lister Ball Top stationary engine, 5 horsepower. Refurbished by Ted Donovan. This is a throttle governed engine, so at idle it doesn't fire on every revolution. Located in the Pacific Northwest.

  • Thanks for the comment. Yes, you are right, the Lister company records show this was originally exported to Canada, now it's in the US. There is a 2nd, longer video of this engine on this same youtube channel, in HD. Cheers.

  • the fuel tank is located in the base of the engine

  • the ball top is the water jacket for cooling

  • It started pretty easy to be 90 years old.

  • can someone explain in laymens terms why the ball top has a ball there? is it a fuel tank?
