Cavalier shift light?

Little did I know, but when I had my 2003 Cavalier, there was a light telling you when to shift for fuel economy. BUT, it was also a shift light, at 5350rpm. Neat!

umm, correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think that's a shift light... I think that's a check engine light... only reason say this is 5350 is such an odd number

ok, im correcting you. The light is an orange arrow that points UP, hence the UPshift light. The optimum shift point is not always when the tach turns red. On some cars it is but for MOST of them out there, the best time to shift is way before redline. You need a dyno to know when your optimum shift point is. But the point of this video is to show something chevy did that I noticed.

Thanks for the correction, it was hard to see the exact shape of the light. Can you modify the shift light points on cavaliers?

Not that I know of. But new technology comes out everyday.  Maybe someone will come out with some editing software to let you.

i had an 85 Dodge Daytona with a shift light, lol i took the damn bulb out it was annoying.

I don't mind any driver no matter what he drives or invests his money it. But he can't have a ricer mentality. But most cavalier, srt4. civic drivers are ricers so naturally these cars are getting a bad name. Sad. I do hate cavalier's though lol =]

Of course a cavalier would have a shift light! It's for the women who drive them, they need to know when to shift!
