Hows my name funny?
Im proud of being from Texas.
I prefer the orignal name"Texian" over "Texan"

@Tenochtitlanesso It was common knowledge then and now that Ritchie Valens had to learn the lyrics in spanish to sing La Bamba.
He did not speak spanish fluently, Im sure he speaked some spanish but then again so can I.
Obviously being raised around all that Mexican culture impacted his life but no where near as much as Mexicans want to think
I was raised around mariachi music it doesent make me an athority on spanish language or culture and it didnt make ritchie one either

@worleymatt1 u agree with someone complaining about racism and u say us whites can claim him which sounds way racist and only cuz ur born in the US doesnt make u white! i was born here and im not white nor mexican!

@TexianPride So True. He had a spanish name. But he was a white boy. Us whites can claim him. People dont know what they say. If they knew anything about Richie theyd know
So sick of Racism on these damn videos.
Why the fuck is there allways forty Mexicans shouting Mexican pride and telling whites to fuck off.
Ritchie was born in California he never lived in Mexico and couldnt even speak spanish he was as American as apple pie.
His ancestry didnt offect his music at all.
La Bamba was the ONLY song he did that was in Spanish for a reason.
Its fine to be proud of your herritage but dont hate on others

@TexianPride funny that you're talking about "mexican pride" when I watch your name. Furthermore you should have your facts right. 1. Ritchie understood spanish and speaked spanglish 2. He was born in Pacoima, a town with 70% hispanics (in 1990, of course the % wasn't that high at all at his time, but it indicates that there certainly were a lot of other hispanics = he grew up with a lot of mexican things and a lot of the culture) 3. He was "brought up hearing traditional Mexican mariachi music"
