  • I live in Northern VA too and I have no idea what the original accent here sounds like. My teachers are from all over the country, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, California, Alaska, etc and so are my friends. lol

  • I'm from Lake Ridge VA, and although I do sound neutral most of the time, Every now and then, I sound southern when I say "I"

  • I'm from Fairfax, VA (don't live there anymore) but it seemed you tried to pronounce everything correctly. I have little southern twang and comes out every now and again depending what I'm saying.

  • yeah im from vienna (next to fairfax) and there is a different accent that used to be more prevalent throughout northern va... young people like this have no discernible accent it just sounds generic, but there is a definite slight southern drawl to some people's speech as well as some urban influence from DC, particularly in pockets of the region where people have been settled longer, fairfax is a busy melting-pot where accents go to die

  • Im from virginia, and i moved to Illinois. They don't say the s.. in illinois..

  • There is an accent from the generation of people who grew up in the 50's, 60's, and 70's and its different then most people have today. This accent comes from the geographical area's of Arlington, Falls Church, Fairfax, D.C. , Baltimore, area's.

The Letter "O" was very pronounced. The phrase "And All" was also commonly used. You don't have that accent at all. In fact, i can hardly hear it.

  • What a great nva accent Gaby! You should go into voice-over work. As like most other northern Virginians I can’t really find a discernable accent associated with nva. The south is a whole different story though!

  • I think you speak very nice! I wouldnt guess you were from Virginia, though. It sounds a lot more northern.

  • Like the vid sounds kinda my accent but I'm going to post a vid of my accent and really let the people tell me if I have an accent or not. BTW I live in Annandale, Virginia just about 10 to 15 mins to the city of fairfax and dc but I'm originally from Arlington, Va just below dc.

  • Lol!
