My adult axolotls have produced quite cute offspring. This one will stay with them (the others will go to friends of mine). Because of his greenish colour I called him Flitze. Flitze Feuerzahn is the name of a little dragon from a children story :-).
If you want to keep some, please mind this if you want to keep them happy and healthy: never keep them alone (but no fish, except of e.g. guppies, others will hurt the lotls badly), buy a tank of at least 160 ltrs for max. 4 animals, many plants, make sure the temperature will never increase 23 °C (best is 16-20 °C,no heaters!), don´t use gravel of more than 3 millimeters in diameter (they can die of obstipation)and never add any chemicals for water treatment or fish medicine (causes bad damage to the organs)! If they get a skin fungus, what sometimes happens, treat them with black tea and mild iodine-free (!)salt water. If you are not sure, please visit a doctor who is familiar with amphibians. They deserve a good treatment, please don´t keep them just to impress friends... (more)

  • @TheAxolotlProtect

I can´t speak French, but I can guess you´d like me to watch your video and press the "like" button, I have done that earlier today :).

  • I've never seen such a lotl-colour before, He's adorable! :)

    The parents look similar? :o

  • @DitaRocks

Sorry, forgot to reply! No, the parents look totally different, one is white with black eyes and the other a golden albino.

  • I have a young axolotl and am considering keeping another, for company's sake, but i've always been told they can be really aggressive to each other, is this nonsense?

  • @deplanetiser

It is nonsense. They can accidentally bite each other in search for food and injure each other badly, ripping a foot off or something like that, but they grow back, only put the injured one in an extra box and change the water every day to keep infections away. They are not aggressive, mostly it´s accidents. Just make sure they are all the same size, otherwise one could literally end up as food.

I have kept 4 of them together for years and this never happened. I know it can happen, but it´s not because they are aggressive. They are not aggressive at all, it´s because they can´t see well and mistake each other´s limbs for food.

If you keep females on their own, they can´t get rid of their spawn, that´s not good for them either.

  • I think I had a heart attack due to adorable-overdose. This is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life, and I was seeing week-old bunnies yesterday. The world is a better place for the existence of this creature and resulting video. ^^
