are bhai jab aapko urmila hi pasand hai to baki ko kyon sunrahe ho, are jo log kahate hai ki rutuja ko pa milna chaiye to unse kehana ud/ab ko pa- milna chaiye
I agree with you. Any kind of super-speciality be of Rutuja or Urmila has to be dealt with same hammer (wonder how that hammer wud work w/ SMS-traditionally people like more light than h/c classical). Like you said, "bias for natya and shastriy" or "liking for lavani" should not make you loose the focus. Overall objective judgement is missing as judges are incapable for doing that.
Back to home pitch for RL. But nobody would accuse her of oversinging a particular genre. Those accusations are reserved for only specific genre I guess.
As I have said earlier ... the prevailing bias for naatya and shastriy sangeet makes listeners lose focus on the actual quality of the performance. In this particular case she sang it slow, flat and somewhat kamsur. But the bias is so strong neither audience nor judges would dare point that out.
was not that great, and besides Abhisheki buwa she has lots of limitations...but anyways, all the best for other kind of songs

glad we agree.
I admire hindustani classical more than any other music. And I wouldn't have a problem if somebody sang that all the time. Same with any other music.
I would only have a problem only if performance is appreciated solely based on the genre without paying attention to the quality.
You are right .... the judges seem to have some other criteria other than pure objective judgement.
