Courtney Boyd Myers is the East Coast Editor of The Next Web, covering start-ups, media and social media. In the past she wrote for PCMag on Connected Travel, design and tech for PSFK.com, robots for ieee Spectrum Magazine, gadgets for Pocket-Lint.com, and about music for The Noise Report, FreeWilliamsburg and the Deli Magazine. She began her career as a reporter at Forbes where she put together an massive report on the state of artificial intelligence.

Despite her obsession with robots, she is a humanist, also a life enthusiast. When she's not blogging and twittering Courtney is an amateur etymologist and grateful yogi. She was born in CT, lived abroad in Buenos Aires but calls Brooklyn her home.

YOU KNOW IF I WAS PASSIONATE ENOUGH ABOUT ONE COMPANY THAT WOULD BE LIKE MY DREAM JOB RIGHT -- TO JUST WRITE ABOUT THAT COMPANY AND MY LOVE FOR THEM. AND IT'S WHERE YOU GET INTO THIS WEIRD BLEND OF PR, AND JOURNALISM AND MARKETING AND THAT'S OKAY -- LIKE IT'S TOTALLY FINE IF THOSE WORLDS ARE BLENDING. AS LONG AS YOU ARE BEING HONEST AND SPEAKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU LOVE. FROM A PERSONAL STAND POINT, I'M JUST HOPING THAT THERE WILL BE SOME NOISE REDUCTION IN THIS SPACE. BECAUSE RIGHT NOW IT'S OVER WHELMING AND ITS CREATED ...I MEAN INTERVENTION IS MESSY, SO WE NEED A LOT OF THESE COMPANIES TO COME UP, TRY NEW THINGS AND FAIL -- BUT I THINK THERE ARE SOME COMPANIES THAT ARE LITERALLY SMOKY MIRRORS, THAT ARE LIKE -- SETTING UP SHOPS, SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING, ANALYSIS, SPECIALIST, ETC -- YOU NAME IT. AND IT'S GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF YEARS FOR THOSE TO SHAKE OUT AND HAVE THE STRONGER PEOPLE EMERGED BUT THEY WILL. THE POWER OF WORD OF MOUTH, IT'S JUST SOMETHING THAT JUST CANNOT BE OVER LOOKED. LIKE ASK YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE THEY USING AS A SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETER? LIKE PUT OUT A BLAST TO YOUR 500 CLOSEST CONTACTS AND FIND QUALITY REPRESENTATION THAT WAY -- VERSUS GOING TO, I DON'T KNOW -- LIKE THERE IS LOW HANGING FRUIT AND THEN THERE'S LIKE THE SOCIALLY RELEVANT FRUIT - LIKE GO FOR THE SOCIALLY RELEVANT FRUIT, GO FOR THE PEOPLE YOU KNOW -- THAT ARE LIKE YOUR WEAK TIES IN YOU SOCIAL CIRCLES.
