William Molina Cestari
Soloist, chamber musician, educator and first cellist of the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, William Molina Cestari obtained the First Prize of the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur when was 19 years old.

William Molina is Venezuelan, born in Maracay, Aragua State, where he began his studies in music at a very early age at the Federico Villena Music School. Later on he continued studying in Caracas and his cello professors in Venezuela were Andrés Herrera, Marek Gajzler and Héctor Vazquéz. He further developed his studies in France with professors Philippe Müller, André Navarra and Paul Tortelier and specialised himself in chamber music with Jean Hubeau and Genevieve Joy Duttileux. He was also advised by the prominent masters Franz Helmerson, Leonard Rose and Mstislav Rostropovich.

He has performed in most countries of the American Continent, in Europe and in Asia and has participated in national and international festivals. He has done recording for radio and television in various countries of the World.

He performed with Sergei Prokofiev's Sinfonia Concertante during its debut in Latin America. His repertoire is very broad and covers all the genders and styles within violoncello literature. Organizations and corporations such as CAF, UN, OAS and UNESCO among others, have invited him through FESNOJIV to give conferences, workshops and seminars in music conservatories, auditoriums and very important universities of various countries of the world.

William Molina is the first Venezuelan cellist to have interpreted and directed simultaneaously repertoire of Vivaldi, Bach, Tartini, Paganini, Haydn, Boccherini, and others.

Since over 15 years ago he created and founded the new modern school of Violoncello of Venezuela, and has thus given an impulse to a whole new generation of young violoncellists, who have obtained several prizes around Latin America as the best violoncellists of the continent.

He teaches music at the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales (IUDEM), and also teaches at and is director of the Academia Latinoamericana de Violoncello. He is also an active member of the jury for various national and international competitions.

He is currently preparing several compact disks. Recently, last july 2007, he completed Masters and Doctorate degree, under the methorship of Professor Natalia Goutman in Moscou, Russia.
