In this cosmetic shop located in Tokyo, there is this background music casually playing...

Girl : It matches the atmosphere of the store, I think it's very nice...
Guy : It's like something that I would like to listen while at home, maybe when I am reading a book.
Girl : It feels like I am not in Japan, feels like I am in a foreign country but doesn't feel far away.

In fact, his music has been brought up by New York Times, as well as chosen as top world music by BBC radio in England. He is the very popular musician in Israel.

His name is "Idan Raichel".

His unique way of mixing music from African, Latin American, Caribbean, and Middle Eastern has become the characteristics of his music. He is also a keyboardist, a producer, and a composer -- a multi-talented musician who is good at everything.

His talent has jump

out from Israel and has been attracting people all over the world.

Actually, I was able to do a solo interview with him during his concert in New York the other day.

First I asked Idan who is creating music with multi-cultural multi-background about his own background.

Actually in Japan, there is a place that we can listen to Idan's music.
That is the cosmetic shop "Sabon" which we have introduced earlier.

Sabon is a cosmetic brand which is getting a lot of attentions in Japan, they carry original bath & body-care, cosmetic products that contains rich minerals from Israel. Namie Amuro and Suzanne are also a big fan of them.

We asked Sabon Shinjuku LUMINE store manager Tozaki-san why we can listen to Idan's music in the store.

Tozaki-san: The feeling of Idan's music is like our soaps, it's warm & soft while it's also little exotic, I think they matches very well together and therefore I am selecting to play his songs.

I feel that I got an opportunity to really feel the international theme in a place that I didn't realize it's so close to me. I hope that this Israeli musician Idan Raichel's passion & message will reach out everywhere in the world.
