For every series of the Awards, Rolex gives generous support to five Laureates and five Associate Laureates for their efforts to expand knowledge and improve life on our planet.
This international programme promotes original projects in the fields of science, technology, exploration, the environment and cultural heritage.
Established in 1976 to foster a spirit of individual enterprise around the world, the Rolex Awards recognise pioneering projects that demonstrate innovative thought and contribute to the betterment of humankind.
For their new ventures or completion of ongoing projects, the Laureates receive a financial award of US$ 100,000 each, a gold Rolex chronometer, the benefits of official recognition via an awards ceremony and international publicity.
Up to five Associate Laureates whose projects are judged to be particularly promising each receive a financial award and a steel-and-gold Rolex chronometer while also being honoured at ceremonies in their home countries.
