I've just listened again to Pippo and still feel that this is absolutely fantastic. Never mind his age or his slightly darker voice, he is still the statesman of tenors. I wish I had a voice like that.

Di stefano was great in his younger years but had to stop early in life. His world tour with Callas in 1973/1974 showed up his now untrained and careless technique. Then something happened. He came back to concert after polishing his tecnique and sang with a new statesman-like poise and warmth. Bravo Di Stefano

Delightful and mature rendering of this beautiful song by a one-time great singer. His voice is darker but still has the lovely charm of another time.
I would like the people who like to knock older singers to remember that in their hay-day they gave enormous pleasure to us all. Di Stefano still does in this video

In which key he is singing this song, I don't think even "Pippo" knows - it appears to be the baritone key (transposed down about a semitone) Perhaps that he was telling the conductor to do! He does try, as bestas his voice allows.
