This might be the first step for you it depends where you are. This is how I am teaching my 4 year old autistic son to read. It is taking a long time but it will be worth it.

  • First off, you are doing wonderfully. I do have one suggestion though. One would be to remove food from the area when he is learning, unless it is as a reward. I have found that distractions are much less frequent when I do that. You are such a great mom to him, you are doing great things for him. A lot of parents of children on the autism spectrum don't put in as much effort as you do. He is so lucky to have you and your husband as parents.

  • your a great mom! :) i am also teaching my pddnos daughter to read. so far so good. i am actually having a more difficult time potty training her than actually teaching her academics:(
