A short video with pictures (all my own) on how to make light sweet scones. I have used the Rachel Allen: Bake recipe book. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients
500g (1lb 2oz) light Italian or plain flour, plus extra for dusting
1 rounded tsp Bicarbonate of soda
2 rounded tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp sea salt
125g (4 1/2oz) chilled unsalted butter, cubed
25g (1oz) caster sugar
1 Egg, beaten
275ml (9fl oz) buttermilk or Milk, plus extra for the egg wash
50g (2oz) caster or granulated sugar, (optional)

  • i find that all these ways of making scones on youtube have a load of ingredients in them. i made them today and used a certain amount of butter, suger, self-raising flour, currents and milk. and thats all you need really, they taste fantastic! so why use all of these ingredients that you dont really need?
