K10 delivers dinner on the nest for his mate, K26, at dusk.
These eagles are part of the ongoing restoration project by IWS. You can read about the struggle to reintroduce America's symbol, the Bald Eagle, to the Channel Islands as well as watch this miracle of nature via live eagle-cam by going to http://www.iws.org and clicking first on 'interactive' and then choosing one of the nests to view on Catalina Island and Santa Cruz Island or go to: http://z7.invisionfree.com/CHIL_EagleCAM/index.php?act=idx
Thanks Jann...I still could not see feathers, which is a mystery to me---what with the higher winds. Does look like a bird wing when first brought on to the nest, but there's not a lot of meat on bird wings--and it does appear to be quite light flesh, not red meat. I missed the fly-in & really enjoyed this video! It almost looks like a fin of some sort at angles. Something a fisherman chopped off his catch? Very interesting.
