Joseph "Satch" Satriani (born July 15, 1956 in Westbury, New York) is an American multi-instrumentalist, known primarily for his work as an instrumental rock guitarist, with multiple Grammy Award nominations. His dexterity and years of dedication to his craft have earned him a reputation as a shred guitarist. Early in his career, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, and some of his former students have achieved fame with their guitar skills (Steve Vai, Tom Morello Marty Friedman, Larry LaLonde, Kirk Hammett, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan). Satriani has been a driving force in the music credited to other musicians throughout his career, as a founder of the ever-changing touring trio, G3, as well as performing in temporary positions with other musicians.
Strange Beautiful Music is the eighth studio album by guitarist Joe Satriani, released in 2002 on Epic Records. The fifth and tenth tracks notably contain Satriani's first recorded use of a seven-string guitar. The title of the album is a reference to the publishing company that produced the album as well as several others by Satriani.
