It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. I lived on Bush Street about two blocks from the corner of Haight and Ashbury Streets in the late 60s. One year we were hanging out in the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park jamming with the Greatful Dead at free concerts. A year later, the junkies and rip off artists had ruined the place. Us "real" hippies moved up to the Petaluma area and Mendocino.
