The Unreal engine has nothing to do with Quake, and Valve has never done anything with it. The Goldsource engine is a heavily modified version of the Quake codebase.

Nope, it's HL1. HL:Source doesn't have a shockroach in it, the lighting looks different, Barney can't pick up guns, and your weapons sway differently when you move

O RLLY? because i have both and really see no difference other than some of the models look better

Well, it might look the same because the team added ragdoll physics, particle effects and plan to make better water, but there are also some AI changes, like the soldier can now throw back the grenade, and Barney can pick up weapons. He also actually reloads now instead of having unlimited ammo. They made the textures better on some of the levels, and also added detail textures, which are things like scratches that you see when you get close to an object. They changed the health/HEV chargers too
