This is a rather interesting track in The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall that generally doesn't play if you use General MIDI emulation, which is what most players use. I love the older, SoundBlaster-emulated tracks, and this is one of them. It has no name in the files (being referenced only as "15"), so I named it Shedungent.

  • i would use soundblaster perhaps if it didn't ruin the cave themes, most turn into that arena floppy disk

hmmmmmmmm....... bum bum bum..... ratatatatatat ninginginging....ping.

  • @lazermunky25 I hate that. But not as much as the Soundblaster version of the shop and tavern theme (it only plays one!).

  • I believe i've only heard this song once, despite being in a LOT of dungeons, maybe its infrequent, or i need to explore more.

Either way its a good song.

  • I think it's most frequent in Main Quest dungeons. In addition to Shedungent, I've heard it in Castle Necromoghan, which is the site of an optional quest during the main quest.

  • This is definitely one of my favorite tunes to get lost in dungeons with. Makes me feel empowered.

  • Definitely. A stark contrast to the more foreboding tracks most dungeons have, but still wonderful.

  • I haven't played Daggerfall in many many years but today I woke up with this music in my head.

  • castle faallem, find Lhotans brother... well I never found him, but did hear this music.

  • Some people don't like it but i think that it was a very cool music. Daggerfall was great video game with cool atmosphere, music and despite bad graphics sometimes it scared a shit out of me, especially when monster jumped from the door and sounds that they made (Ancient vampire for example ugh.....)

  • @StoanPhrogg Heh, this made me post this but i was playing, and i went through a knights of the dragon quest through a deep dungeon, and i got another one and i figured i wouldn't do it, just check it out, and lo and behold, the general midi version of this song actually played. I had no idea it would, but because of it, i am going through with the quest anyway. I do like this version better, however it's nice to hear the one that i thought was never used in gen midi, in a KOTD quest dungeon.

  • i had this in a dungeon and i had to turn the sound off because it kept looping this over and over and it got really annoying after an hour or two.

  • i get it mostly in random quest dungeons.

  • I kinda like this one better as well, but not because i heard it first - more because i feel the other one is a bit too high pitched, while this one's perfect.

Also im a sucker for SB - first place i heard doom was on a comp with a SB

  • I listened to it. Your version is more fancy, but i prefer this one posted here. Just for the simple reason that it is like my memory, I didn' t have a fancy soundcard at the time. Nice to hear a different version though!
