The whole thing he wants to say is just,"Deaf is Deaf as God makes you so. Don't force Deaf persons to be what hearing people wants them to be! Let them be Deaf!"
Being in the middle of both worlds as a hard-of-hearing, he sees the conflict as between ones wanting to be Deaf and those not wanting them to be so. The CI has unfortunately turned out to be an instrument of oppression of the Deaf Culture and a means of suppression of sign language by the oralists and now by the CI-industry.
