Schlichting - Beloved

"Beloved"
This piece was written in the winter of 2008-2009. From the initial period of the piece's conception, I was devoted to the idea of presenting the work to my father, Mark Schlichting, as a Father's Day present.
I have dedicated this piece to my Dad for his continuous support for my musical growth as well as his devotion to the musicians of my hometown of Bellingham, WA, where he has served as a strings teacher for the past 40 years.
It was under my fathers baton that I performed the string music of Tchaikovsky, Janáček, Bartók, Barber, and Hovhaness for the first time. For these experiences, I am forever in his debt.
