The book "Old Chillicothe" was written by yhe great-grandsons of James Galloway and Tecumseh, Dr William Galloway and Thomas Wildcat Alford, respectively. The wrote it specifically to preserve the history and information of Tecumseh, Shawnee life and culture, pioneer information, and stories not to forget. It includes pictures such as the Sacred Slab given to Alliance tribes by Tecumseh and the Prophet, Tecumseh's tomahawk-peacepipe, maps, monuments, and more. This book is only available at Greene County Historical Society, 74 W Church St, Xenia, OH 45385, USA; 937-372-4606; gchsxo@sbcglobal.net for $25 (hardback). Sorry for the uneven sound level; I'm new at this.

  • Yes, we are. I just traced the connection last month. Frederich Ice (the first Ice in America, from Holland Ten Eyke) married Mary Galloway; they were Tecumseh's grandparents. Mary Galloway was the daughter of John Robert Galloway who immigrated from Scotland with 6 other brothers. One of those brothers later had a son named James Galloway who would be the pioneer in Greene County and Xenia. All those first names run in that family, just as "Mary" is a recurring family girl's name.
