This was shot while I was breaking in my AR15 I had just finished building. I was trying to get a look at any flash or gas/smoke that might exit the side ports when fireing. Due to the 20" barrel, all of the powder had apparently burned up inside the barrel before the bullet exited. It does seem to help with the recoil at bit though.

  • @etucker5007: The vents are angled back at the same angle as the nose of the comp. it was fairly easy to do with the mill already set up for cutting the exterior.

  • looks cool but also heavy =/

  • @NoahHoe

It's not heavy at all. That one was a prototype I made out of aluminum. The steel version shouldn't be too heavy either since there's so much material removed from the inside.

  • awesome comp. dude

  • @Mr2fierce Thanks for the compliment.

I was just talking to someone today who is producing some other AR type accessories. We may be able to work out a deal for him to produce these comps (and a few other ideas) soon.

    Keeping my fingers crossed... :)

  • That's a great looking compensator, that also seems to work quite well (from the video anyway). I have an AR with the AK 74 style compensator on it. I love it, everyone I shoot with hates it though, "Damn, that thing is loud!" is a common statement. Will you be producing these for sale, as I would be interested?

  • @buhrdt

Thanks. I might start making them and other custom comps after I open up my gunsmith shop next year. No plans to produce them right now.

  • @wheelsndealz Since when are professional shooters not civilians too?

  • @TheFiremonkeyman the gas passes through a vent up into a tube to cycle the bolt carrier before it exits the barrel. check out "how an ar functions" video..

  • @superhonkey0101 "maybe even Four, She might want to marry a ni66er" Quoted: Smoke from Friday.

  • @Hardwoods91 there is recoil in an ar. There is even recoil in that red ryder bb gun i seen you with at the 1000m range. All devices that propel a projetile down a barrel have some sort of recoil...

  • @wheelsndealz need and wants are a very fine line in the world of shooting guns for a hobby... hell we all dont need a safe full of ar's in every caliper and pistols of every cal. But we all want them...

  • @buhrdt good.. the louder the better. its fun to phuck with the gun snobs at the range and shoot the loudest setups I have.... LOL... Thumbs up!!

  • @wheelsndealz I stand corrected, by me saying it does not exist I should have said "almost non existant "

  • @Hardwoods91 the recoil is low but you can not say it does not exist. all the professional shooters have them. now does a civilian need one?. not really. unless they are a serious shooter looking for the most accurate shots at all times. othere than that they really are just about looks.

  • Looks cool but really that is all it has going for it, no need for a recoil compensator on an AR in 5.56/.223 because recoil does not exist
