Dear Mr. President:

As a President who has expressed his strong determination to restore honor and dignity to Algerian people, we Algerian citizens would like to call your attention to the case of the oil and gas contract of shame with Egypt and to request that you exercise your power of executive skills to decline to contract with any Egyptian companies, agencies or whatsoever.

We Algerian citizens are deeply shocked and saddened after hearing that Sonatrach CEO Mohamed Meziane intended to sign with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) a contract worth 15 billion $, this unexpected statement was carried out by Energy and Mining minister Chakib Khelil on his arrival in Cairo to attend a meeting of OAPEC oil ministers, who hoped the signature of this contract as soon as possible?!

A contract with Egypt which hasn't done yet with insulting the most sacred figures of the Algerian nation within a chauvinism atmosphere elaborated with ferocious racist attacks on our nation.

Allowing such a contract to pass, after what have just happened, after the barbarous commencement of hostilities that crossed all lines from the Egyptian media guided and supported by their regime, we wouldn't be insulted by the Egyptians only, but by our politicians as well. It's a degradation towards our martyrs and a spot of disgrace that will remain carved in the Algerian nation's memory forever.

Frankly speaking, Algeria doesn't need land gas pipes project through Egyptian soil nor does it need to sell its oil through Egypt, it's against nature and against our first principles.

In such circumstances, can you image such an irresponsible act from any other regime on this planet? or any government that has a tiny bit of dignity? Oh No!

Can you still make business while all red lines are still being crossed, Mr. Chakib Khelil?

Beside being a person, who would spend hours trying to drown a fish, during your interviews on this issue with the international press, there is this persistent question that keeps on coming up, where is the benefit of Algeria from this contract of shame with some people who keep on insulting us from dawn to dusk?

Are you executing some imported orders, issued by someone, somewhere?
If it's the case, i assure you everyone would believe it, and it's called betrayal by the way. And in waiting for you to invent a "reason of state", it's so lame because you can't seem to fool the Algerian people.

Soulfully but consciously, we Algerian citizens are free and jealous when it comes to our beloved country, demanding the immediate cancellation of this contract of shame. And inducing a definite rupture of diplomatic relations with the Egyptian government.

The Algerian people in and outside the country are gathering for a symbolic peaceful demonstration on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at noon in front of all Algerian consulates and embassies around the world, and Sunday, December 20 Algiers, Place des Martyrs, same time. For the rest of the country; rally outside the cities headquarters.
Slogans: "no contract with Egypt", "no place in the land of martyrs for those who insult martyrs"

We, therefore, Mr. President, strongly urge you to reject this contract. This request is supported by Algerian community in Europe and North America as well as a cross section of other notable Algerians.

Thank you for your prompt consideration of this urgent matter.

What happened betwen Egypt and Algeria in which Egypt has crossed the lines of brotherhood can only demonstrates the vulnerability of the arab mind in this era, and the incapability of arab governments to lead the people on toward the foot steps of the Mohamed pbuh ... We are affected by these insults, yes we are shocked by the attack which took the bus Algerians players, yes we are shocked that the Algerian supporters were attacked, so we are shocked that the Algerian flag is burned by lawyers Egyptian, yes we are shocked that the TV channel Al Yawm al Kahia calls for killing Algerians residing in Egypt.
