WNCT’s REX ROLAND in “First In News” promo at the end is likely no kin to teacher REX ROLAND in the news 20 years later (March 2010) for writing “loser” in the margin while grading his 6th grade students’ assignments at BUNcombE County Schools’ Enka Middle in CANDLEr, NC. Who said: “It’s better to light one CANDLE than curse the dark”? Stalking victim HARRIS FAULKner ditched reporting at WNCT, jetting off to do local TV in Kansas City. Unrelated: the 116 N Dennis St, address; 1982 FALKlands War
WNCT's REX ROLAND in "First In News" promo at end--likely unrelated to teacher REX ROLAND in the news 20 years later (March 2010) at bunCOMBe County Schools' Enka Middle (390 AsBURY Rd) in CANDLEr, NC. Teacher REX ROLAND wrote "loser” in margins of his 6th grade students’ papers; on her daughter’s paper, mother Patty Clement took exception. Phallic alert--Clement told the AP: "He threw my daughter's pencil box in the HALLway and she got in trouble by ANOTHER TEACHER for disrupting HIS class ..."
I was a college student in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina in 1990 and didn’t know Todd Gibson had worked at WNCT, always associating him with Triangle NC market stations. Incredible how young and trim Brian Bailey looks here too. “First In News” promo with Rex Roland at the end reminds that stalking victim Harris Faulkner worked at WNCT before jetting off to local TV in Kansas City. ROLAND is presumably no kin to teacher REX ROLAND making “loser” news at Enka Middle School in Candler, NC
I love channel 9! I'm proud to be a former 'Tarheel' and WNCT-TV viewer!

This brings back memories. I picked up WNCT (as well as WITN and WCTI) quite often in Central NC
